My client is a mission-driven rural health system passionate about rural health and rural cancer care delivery. Their cancer center opened in 2010 and construction was funded entirely with community donations. Unlike many outreach models of rural cancer care, they are community-based – truly by the community and for the community – and they understand the needs of rural cancer patients. Their center is growing and They are looking for a medical oncologist with the sense of purpose and calling to provide cancer care in the beautiful lakes country of west-central Minnesota.

The Opportunity

  • Work a 4-day work week with flexible patient scheduling

  • Rotating clinic in a neighboring community one day per week

  • Shareholder opportunity available within the physician-driven practice

  • Shared low-intensity 1 in 3 call

  • Work with two oncologists and two APPs to see an average of 12-14 patients per day

  • Radiation oncology on-site – with new Varian Truebeam linear accelerator and PET/CT

  • Dedicated support staff include Patient Navigators, Oral Chemotherapy Navigators, Financial Navigator, Prior Authorization Team, Social Worker, and Pharmacy onsite

  • Multidisciplinary cancer conference

  • Dedicated Infusion Center

  • They are a not-for-profit, independent health system with 110 providers and 19 specialty services.

     

Compensation and benefits

  • Full benefits include: health, dental, vision, life insurance, group health insurance, disability insurance (short and long term), & malpractice insurance

  • 6 weeks paid time off

  • Guaranteed salary for the first 2 years of employment that begins at $450,000/year base salary with the opportunity for additional compensation based on production hours worked

  • Generous sign-on bonus, relocation reimbursement, and paid professional dues

 

 

About the area:

They are approximately 170 miles northwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul and 25 miles east of the North Dakota border. Their community is well known for the lake country beauty, wooded hills, and rolling farmland. Within the city limits, there are 5 lakes, 17 parks and recreational areas, and an 18-hole public golf course. The community offers a nature learning center, historic buildings, a performing arts center, and the natural beauty of trails and prairie. The paved, 135 mile-long Central Lakes Trail begins in the community and ends in St. Joseph, MN where many enjoy biking, walking, jogging, in-line skating, or snowmobiling in the winter.
