Education:     Master’s Degree
        Graduate of Certified Adult or Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program, Adult             Gerontology Acute Care preferred
        Residency in Critical Care preferred
        Graduate of a Certified Physician Assistant Program
        Residency in Critical Care preferred
Experience:    3 years experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred
        3 years experience in a hospital setting, CCRN or CEN preferred
        3 years experience as Physician Assistant preferred
        3 years experience in a hospital setting, Inpatient, ICU, or ED preferred
Qualifications: American Heart Association BLS and ACLS designation
        Eligible for Delaware licensure
Proficiency in obtaining central venous access, endotracheal intubation, and other invasive procedures preferred or willingness to learn

Position Summary: The Advance Practice Provider Inpatient/ICU is to provide care to adults and seniors with complex conditions in hospital acute care and ICU settings.  The job involves close and formal collaboration with supervising hospitalist and intensivist physicians, along with regular interactions with other specialists as needed. The candidate will also collaborate with nurses, respiratory therapists, consultants, and administrative personnel for continuity of care.
    Duties include ICU and Medical-Surgical Admission History and Physicals, along with care of general medical-surgical and ICU patients.  The work involves stabilizing patients, providing complicated monitoring, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing complex treatment plans in the course of diagnostic and treatment of various medical conditions.  The provider works with patients that are acutely ill, often with multiple, intricate problems that are highly vulnerable to complications.  Duties also include participation with Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams.
    In addition, the work may include invasive procedures to stabilize patients, including central and arterial line placement and endotracheal intubation. Such procedures would also require the need to explain the necessity, preparation, risks, nature and anticipated effects of procedures to patients and families in the course of obtaining informed consent.
